NFL Week 6 Betting Recap: Underdogs Bark as Cardinals Stun Rams, Chiefs Roll to 5-0
Sunday was a payday for underdog bettors. Three favorites favored by 6.5 points or more lost outright, eight of the 12 games were decided by seven points or fewer, and the Kansas City Chiefs stayed perfect while the Philadelphia Eagles kept sliding.
Here is what mattered most from Sunday’s NFL Week 6 slate and what it means for tonight’s Monday Night Football line and the Week 7 openers.
Dogs That Barked
The Arizona Cardinals pulled the upset of the day, beating the Los Angeles Rams 18-16 on six field goals from Chad Ryland. The Rams closed as 12.5-point home favorites and managed just 16 points against a defense that entered the day allowing the most in the NFL. Cardinals backers cashed at plus money around +500.
Tennessee got its first win, stunning Indianapolis 26-20 after trailing 13-0 at halftime. The Colts were 6.5-point favorites and Daniel Jones threw two interceptions. The Titans closed around +240 on the moneyline.
Cleveland edged Baltimore 13-10 in a rock fight. The Browns were 3-point underdogs and won at around +142, with Deshaun Watson doing just enough in the lowest-scoring game of the day.
Favorites That Held
The Chiefs rolled the Chargers 22-6 to stay undefeated at 5-0. Kenneth Walker ran for 128 yards and two touchdowns, and Kansas City covered the 7.5-point spread with ease.
Green Bay shut down Dallas 23-13 on Sunday night. Jordan Love threw for 276 yards with a passing and a rushing touchdown, the Packers picked off Dak Prescott twice, and the Cowboys fell to 2-4.
Caleb Williams returned from his hamstring injury in style, completing 30 of 36 passes for 305 yards and a touchdown in Chicago’s 31-23 win at Atlanta. The Bears covered as 1.5-point favorites.
Buffalo held off Las Vegas 33-30 in a shootout. Josh Allen passed for 255 yards and two touchdowns, tying Jim Kelly’s franchise passing TD mark, though the Bills failed to cover 5.5 points.
What It Means for Bettors
Sunday’s card was one of the best underdog days of the season. Three favorites favored by 6.5 points or more lost outright, The Rams’ third loss keeps them outside the playoff picture and their lookahead lines will shrink, while the Eagles’ fourth straight loss (25-14 to Carolina) makes them a fade candidate until the offense shows life.
Tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup has the 49ers laying 7.5 points against the Commanders with a total of 52.5. After Sunday’s chaos, shop for the best number and consider whether San Francisco deserves a touchdown-plus price against a desperate division rival.
