NFL Sunday Slate: Week 6 Preview
NFL Sunday Slate: Week 6 Preview, October 18
Eleven games, one London breakfast kickoff, and a Sunday night classic. Here is what matters in Week 6, game by game, with the angle that makes each one worth your attention.
Early window
Texans vs. Jaguars, London (9:30 a.m. ET, NFL Network). Jacksonville is 4-1 and owns the AFC South’s early story, and the Jags already handled the London trip last week with a win over Philadelphia. Houston’s ground game is one of the league’s worst, and the Jaguars own the league’s best run defense. Early kickoff, short number, sharp spot for the Jags.
Jets at Patriots (1 p.m. ET, CBS). New England is the hottest team in football, winners in Buffalo and a 45-17 blowout of Vegas last week. A.J. Brown and Christian Gonzalez are both active. The Jets keep fighting but this is a talent gap at Gillette.
Panthers at Eagles (1 p.m. ET, CBS). Jalen Hurts is out and McKee gets the start for Philadelphia, which moved the number. Philadelphia’s defense is still the story of this team, and Carolina has to prove it can exploit a backup quarterback on the road. Chaos potential is high either way.
Steelers at Buccaneers (1 p.m. ET, CBS). Two physical teams that want to run the ball and win ugly. Expect a tight, low-possession game where one turnover decides it.
Roundup: Bears at Falcons, Ravens at Browns, Titans at Colts, and Saints at Giants fill out the 1 p.m. window. The Ravens need to look like the Ravens again in Cleveland, and the Bears-Falcons game is sneaky watchable if both offenses keep trending up.
Late window
Chargers at Chiefs (4:25 p.m. ET, CBS). Kansas City is fresh off its bye, which is historically a great spot for Andy Reid at Arrowhead. The Chargers are good enough to make this a game, but the Chiefs with two weeks of prep are a different animal.
Bills at Raiders (4:25 p.m. ET, CBS). Buffalo is 4-1 and looks like a contender; Vegas is 3-2 and just got embarrassed by New England. The Bills’ defensive front should control this one from the first series.
Cardinals at Rams (4:05 p.m. ET, FOX). NFC West divisional game with real seeding stakes. The Rams at home in a spot like this are always a tough out.
Sunday Night Football
Cowboys at Packers (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC). A classic NFL rivalry closes the night at Lambeau. Both teams need it, both rosters are loaded, and Sunday night games in Green Bay in October are appointment television.
